What is Telemetry? Telemetry is the recording and collection of data at remote sites, and also the communication link to send and receive data between sites for the purpose of monitoring and control. A good example of where telemetry is used is at a remote pump station which is unmanned. To allow a person to remotely monitor and control the pump, telemetry is used to bridge the link.

A fairly recent trend in telemetry is cyber security. Many existing telemetry installations, typically installed before 2010, are not secure and are vulnerable to cyber attacks.
